Jury Deliberates in Trial of 2 Tulsa Officers (Aug 23, 2011)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A third day of jury deliberations is under way in U.S. District Court in Tulsa in the trial of two Tulsa police officers.

Officers Jeff Henderson and Bill Yelton face numerous counts of civil rights violations, drug conspiracy and retaliating against witnesses.

Both testified in their defense and denied the allegations.

The case went to the jury Friday afternoon. Jurors deliberated three hours Friday and returned Monday for another eight hours before being sent home. They returned Tuesday morning to resume deliberations.

Their trial is the second involving Tulsa police officers. Retired Cpl. Harold Wells was convicted in June of drug conspiracy and theft of U.S. funds during an FBI sting.

Two other officers were acquitted at the June trial.
