Okla. Man Accused of Child Abuse Found in Texas (Aug 25, 2011)

RICHMOND, Texas (AP) - Deputies in Southeast Texas have captured a fugitive who fled Oklahoma as he was about to be tried on a child sexual abuse charge.

Charles Alan Dyer was arrested Thursday morning after authorities received a call about a suspicious person near Richmond, located about 30 miles southwest of Houston.

Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office spokesman Bob Haenel says Dyer was questioned by deputies and after providing false identification, he admitted who he was.Authorities say a fingerprint check confirmed his identity.

He is expected to be turned over to the FBI, which had been pursuing him on a charge of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Authorities say Dyer was to have been in court in Stephens County in Oklahoma on Aug. 15 but failed to show up.
