Perry: No Stimulus Program if He's President (Aug 29, 2011)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry says there would be no stimulus programs if he is elected to lead the country.

Speaking in Tulsa on Monday, Perry said he has a plan to free America from an "economic disaster" and that he will "get America working again."

He appealed to the country's "entrepreneurial spirit" to create jobs and let them flourish. He also said American workers should be allowed to keep more of what they make.

The Texas governor also called for additional development of the U.S. nuclear energy industry so the country can become as energy independent as possible. He said there was no more important area to work on as a nation.
