NOBLE, Okla. (AP) - Firefighters are keeping an eye on an area of Noble where a grass fire charred 300 acres of land.

Norman Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey said Friday no homes were lost in the blaze, which burned in Noble and briefly in Norman Thursday.

Bailey said three firefighters who were hurt while battling the fire are recovering. He says a Norman firefighter suffered a separated shoulder and was treated and released from a local hospital. A Slaughterville firefighter suffered burns to her hands and face and another Slaughterville firefighter had burns to the face. Both were treated at a hospital and released.

Bailey said the fire started when a trenching machine ignited at 48th Street and Etowah Road.

The blaze forced the evacuation of Noble High School and some nearby homes.
