Fallin Names Edmond Mayor Douglas to Corp. Comm. (Sep 08, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin has chosen Edmond Mayor Patrice Douglas to fill an upcoming vacancy on the three-member Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

Fallin appointed Douglas Thursday to the position being vacated by Commissioner Jeff Cloud. Cloud announced plans last week to resign within a month to become vice president of natural gas at Enid-based Continental Resources.

An attorney, Douglas has been Edmond's mayor since April 2009. She also serves as executive vice president of First Fidelity Bank in Edmond and leads its commercial lending team. Douglas will step down as mayor when she takes her seat on the Corporation Commission.

Fallin says Douglas is a student of the policy issues facing Oklahoma and its citizens. The Corporation Commission has regulatory authority over the energy and telecommunications industries as well as public utilities.
