Okla. Revenue Collections Outpace 2010, Estimate (Sep 12, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State finance officials say collections to Oklahoma's general revenue fund last month outpaced both prior year collections and the official estimate used to determine the state budget.

Office of State Finance Director Preston Doerflinger announced Monday that total general revenue fund collections in August were 18 percent more than August 2010 and 11 percent more than the official estimate.

Receipts from the individual income tax jumped by nearly 39 percent over August 2010, but Doerflinger cautioned that much of that boost is because there were more business days in August 2011.

Every major source of taxes, including income, oil and gas production and motor vehicle, outpaced last year's collections.

Gov. Mary Fallin says the improved collections are evidence that Oklahoma "is on the right track."
