Denver-Based Company to Buy OPUBCO (Sep 15, 2011)

The NewsOK website reports the Oklahoma Publishing Company is selling all its stock to Denver-based Anschutz Corp.The online story says the sale will happen in early October. The Gaylord and Dickinson families have controlled OPUBCO for more than 108 years. Anschutz Corp. is owned Philip Anschutz. He is a billionaire who has been dubbed a "stealth media mogul."
Beliefnet named him on of the most influential Christians in Hollywood.
Anschutz owns the Regal Entertainment movie chain, Walden Media (maker of the Narnia series) and professional sports teams. He also owns The Examiner group of newspapers and also recently bought The Weekly Standard.
Anschutz is also active in a variety of consevative political issues include support of a Colorado anti-gay rights amendment. He has also been connected with the Institute for American Values and Morality in Media.
The Anschutz Corp. is a varied company with holdings ranging from entertainment to telecom and energy development.
