Help Coming to Workers of Closing Window Plant (Sep 20, 2011)

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) — The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission and Workforce Oklahoma will send teams to help workers who will lose their jobs with the planned closing of Simonton Windows in McAlester.

The company announced earlier this month it would close the plant and lay off all 252 employees by the end of the year.

Employment Security Commission manager Cody Cox told The McAlester News-Capital that sessions will be held at 4 p.m. and at 7 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the plant.

Officials plan to present information about unemployment insurance, training programs, returning to school and jobs that are currently in high demand.
