World Views: Palestinian State Before UN, Sama Salem on Tahrir Square (Sep 26, 2011)

Last week, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas urged the United Nations to recognize an independent Palestinian state, and President Obama told the UN General Assembly Wednesday the United States “seeks a future where Palestinians live in a sovereign state.”  Host Zach Messitte and panelists Joshua Landis and Monica Sharp discuss the Palestinian application for statehood. 

Later, Texas Tech University Ph.D. student Sama Salem joins the program for a conversation on her experiences in Cairo's Tahrir Square during the Arab Spring protests against the rule of ousted President Hosni Mubarak.
