OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin is supporting a plan to repair all 706 deficient highway bridges in the state by 2019.

Fallin and state transportation officials revealed details of the plan Monday. It includes increasing the amount of revenue set aside for road and bridge repairs by $15 million a year and raising total funding for transportation to $550 million.

Fallin also supports recycling structural steel from the Interstate 40 Crosstown Expressway to rebuild deficient county bridges. The expressway is scheduled to be replaced next year.

Oklahoma ranks second in the nation, behind only Pennsylvania, in the number of bridges rated structurally deficient. But a report by Washington, D.C.-based The Road Information Program in April indicated the state had reduced the number of structurally deficient, state-maintained bridges by 32 percent.
