OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A veteran Oklahoma County judge has died.

Oklahoma County Commissioner Brian Maughan's office says District Judge Twyla Mason Gray died Monday after a lengthy fight with breast cancer. She was 56.

Gray was first elected a district judge in 1998 and won three subsequent terms.

Maughan's office says she served in the Oklahoma House from 1980 to 1984. The Oklahoma House's website listed her as a representative for Tulsa and Wagoner counties.

She also was an assistant to U.S. Rep. James Jones and was a municipal judge for the City of Oklahoma City.

Gray is survived by her husband, Charles; her mother, Mildred Mason of Tulsa; a daughter, Sarah, and a brother, Brian.

Her funeral is scheduled for Thursday at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
