Okla. Revenue Shows Double-Digit Growth in Sept. (Oct 10, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Office of State Finance says tax revenue collected by Oklahoma's general revenue fund showed double-digit growth in September and the first three months of the 2012 fiscal year.

Finance Director Preston Doerflinger said Monday that total collections for September were up by 14.5 percent from same month a year ago. Collections also topped estimates upon which the budget was based by 6.3 percent.

Total collections for September were $526.2 million, or $66.5 million above collections in September 2010 and $31.4 million above the monthly estimate.

Collections for the three-month period exceeded $1.3 billion. That is $143.1 million or 12.1 percent more than the first three months of the previous fiscal year.

Doerflinger says Oklahoma's revenue growth is being propelled by strong income tax collections, reflecting hiring in many sectors.
