TCU Accepts Invitation to Join Big 12 Conference (Oct 10, 2011)
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Texas Christian University announced Monday it has accepted the Big 12’s bid to join the athletic conference in time for the 2012-2013 school year.

TCU trustees met Monday to discuss and accept the unanimous invitation to the 15-year-old conference.

The Horned Frogs had said they would join the Big East next July. It isn't an official conference member, so it wouldn't be required to give 27 months' notice to leave the Big East. TCU would be required to pay a $5 million exit fee.

The TCU football team is currently in the Mountain West Conference, and finished second in the nation last year after a 13-0 season capped with a Rose Bowl win over the University of Wisconsin.
