Enid Fire Chief Dies of Heart Attack (Oct 24, 2011)

ENID, Okla. (AP) — The fire chief in Enid has died of a heart attack.

The Enid News & Eagle (http://bit.ly/oyzUBt) reports that Phil Clover died Sunday in Tulsa. He was 58.

Clover was an Enid firefighter for 34 years and chief since 1996. He was named fire chief of the year by the Oklahoma State Fire Chiefs Association in 1999. Colleagues tell the newspaper that he was active in state public safety organizations and an important city leader.

Assistant Chief Joe Jackson will become acting chief of the department serving the 50,000-person city north of Oklahoma City.
