Indian Times: November is Native American Heritage Month (Nov 04, 2011)

This week on Indian Times,  its Native American Heritage Month,  as decreed by President Obama.  We’ll hear from Wilson Seawright (Chickasaw)  chairperson for this year’s Oklahoma celebration, sponsored  by the Department of Human Service’s Office of Civil Rights. The Native American Heritage Celebration will be held this year on the Langston University Oklahoma City campus on November 21st at 11am and everyone is invited.

Native events for next weekend:
The Western Heights Native American Student Services is having a Fall Craft Bazaar at SW 44th and Council Road (Resource Gym) next Saturday 11/12 from 9am to 4pm, with an Indian taco sale starting at 10am. There is booth space still available, for more information call Angela Williams at 405-350-3475.

The Shawnee Indian Education and Parent Committee will be sponsoring an Art Show & Stomp Dance on 11/12 at the Shawnee Middle School Old Gym which is ½ block north of Union and Highland intersection on Union street , doors open at 5pm, dinner is at 6 and they will dance from 7 to 11pm.  For more information call Paula Peyketewa at 918-899-7214
