Fallin Welcomes Horse Competition League to Okla. (Nov 21, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin is helping to launch the newly formed World Reining League.

The league will be based in Oklahoma City and will host a series of competitive horse events across the country.

Fallin on Monday welcomed the league to the city and announced that its inaugural show will be held Jan. 19-21 at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds.

Fallin described the league as the "gold buckle of the horse industry." She says having the league in Oklahoma City will bring more jobs and tourism to the state and provide a boost to the state's equine industry.

Horse reining is a sport in which riders and quarter horses are judged on a series of high-speed maneuvers.
