Navy Makes Big Purchase From Biofuel Venture (Dec 06, 2011)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The Navy has made the biggest biofuel order yet from a company set up as a joint venture between Tulsa-based Syntroleum Corp. and Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson Foods Inc.

The company, Dynamic Fuels LLC, said Monday the 450,000-gallon order is an important step for the company.

The biofuel is made from non-food grade grease and animal fats at a plant in Geismar, La.

Dynamic Fuels management committee director Jiff Bigger told the Tulsa World the order shows the company is building momentum in the market for renewable fuels.

Dynamic Fuels began operations last year.
