Porter Republican to Head Senate Budget Panel (Dec 14, 2011)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State Sen. Kim David (R-Porter) has been selected as the new chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services.

David's appointment was one of several Senate leadership changes announced on Tuesday. The first-term lawmaker replaces Edmond Sen. Clark Jolley, who was named last month to lead the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee following the death of former Sen. David Myers. Sen. Greg Treat of Oklahoma City will serve as David's vice-chair of the panel.

On the Democratic side, new Senate Minority Leader Sean Burrage named Sen. Jerry Ellis of Valliant will serve as the assistant Democratic floor leader. That position was left open when Burrage was selected to replace Sen. Andrew Rice as Democratic leader.
