Tulsa Police Officer Moved to Indiana Prison (Dec 23, 2011)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A former Tulsa police officer who was convicted of corruption has been moved to a federal prison in Indiana. According to Federal Bureau of Prison records, retired Cpl. Harold R. Wells was transported to the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday.

The Tulsa World (http://bit.ly/vuQhxm) reports that police officers or other similarly identified inmates are monitored for safety and aren't placed with inmates who might be hostile.

Wells was sentenced Dec. 6 to 10 years in prison for drug conspiracy and stealing money during a 2009 FBI sting. He and other law enforcement officers were part of a two-year corruption probe that involved allegations of falsified search warrants, nonexistent informants and perjury.

Wells is expected to be transferred from Indiana to the Federal Prison Camp in Duluth, Minn.
