Vandals Damage Equipment at BA Casino Work Site (Jan 06, 2012)

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) — Vandals have damaged construction equipment at the site of a Native American casino being built in Broken Arrow.

Tulsa television station KJRH reports (http://is.gd/qVFdBA ) that the construction company says someone cut locks on parked fuel truck and poured a substance into the tanks, which workers noticed Thursday morning.

The Kialegee Tribal Town is building the casino despite strong opposition from Broken Arrow's government and area residents. The tribe says it needs revenue and the casino is its best option.

The plan is for a temporary casino to open at the site while the permanent structure is being built.

The construction company says it will drain its fuel tanks daily to reduce the risk of more tampering.
