Judge Bass-LeSure, Two Others Waive Preliminary Hearing (Jan 06, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma County judge has waived a preliminary hearing that would determine whether she stands trial on felony charges of fraud, perjury and conspiracy.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys would not say Friday whether the decision means District Judge Tammy Bass-LeSure has reached a plea agreement — or whether there are negotiations for a plea.

Bass-LeSure and her husband, Karlos LeSure, are accused of taking payments from the state for foster children they later adopted, but who allegedly lived with Ravonda Edwards. Edwards is the sister of Bass-Lesure's bailiff.

Karlos LeSure and Edwards also have waived their preliminary hearings. All three have denied wrongdoing.

The judge has set a March 2 formal arraignment in the case.
