Cleveland County Deputy Shoots, Wounds Man (Jan 06, 2012)

ETOWAH, Okla. (AP) — Cleveland County authorities say a deputy sheriff has shot and wounded a man who pointed a gun at deputies who were investigating a fire.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Meghan McCormack told reporters that the deputies had stopped Friday morning near Etowah when a man pulled a gun and pointed it at them. McCormack says one deputy then opened fire and wounded the man.

The man's name and condition were not released. The names of the deputies also were not released.

Etowah is about 20 miles east of Norman in eastern Cleveland County.
