Oklahoma Judge Nominated to High Court (Jan 24, 2012)
President Obama has nominated Judge Robert E. Bacharach to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Bacharach is currently the U.S. Magistrate Judge for the federal courts in the Western District of Oklahoma.

According to the White House, Bacharach has handled nearly 3,000 civil and criminal matters while on the federal bench, and has presided over more than 400 judicial settlement conferences. The Oklahoman newspaper reports the appointment has received initial positive remarks from U.S. Senators Jim Inhofe and Tom Coburn.

The position on the appeals court has been open since July of 2010 when Robert Henry resigned to become the president of Oklahoma Cit University. The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals hears cases from Oklahoma and five other states… and is just one lower than the U.S. Supreme Court.
