Hospital President Appointed to Tobacco Trust (Jan 26, 2012)
Attorney General Scott Pruitt has appointed the president of Oklahoma City's Mercy Health Center to a six-year term on the Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust. James R. Gebhart Jr.'s term begins next month and ends in 2018.

Pruitt says Gebhart has been an advocate for reducing tobacco use through education, prevention and treatment. The Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust was created in November 2000 through a constitutional amendment approved by Oklahoma voters.

Seventy-five percent of Oklahoma's share of the national Master Settlement Agreement is placed into the endowment annually and the rest is appropriated by the Legislature.
