Boeing Jobs Put At Risk (Feb 02, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The U.S. Air Force's postponement of a program to upgrade the cockpits of its C-130 aircraft could affect jobs that Boeing is planning to move from California to Oklahoma City.

Boeing Co. has announced plans to move about 550 employees from Long Beach to Oklahoma City with about 230 of those to work on the C-130 upgrades. Boeing says about 110 of those jobs have already been filled.

A report released Wednesday said the Air Force has "eliminated expensive programs" - including the C-130 program.

Boeing spokeswoman Jennifer Hogan said Wednesday that the company has not been told by the Air Force that the program is being eliminated. Hogan said the company was promised more information about plans for the program after the president's 2013 budget is released.
