OCU Selects New President (Feb 06, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Oklahoma Christian University administrator has been chosen to succeed Mike O'Neal as president of the school.

Board of Trustees chairman Don Millican announced Saturday that John deSteiguer will officially assume the duties of the president in June.

Millican says deSteiguer has a strong appreciation and respect for Christian education, and also has a proven track record in the area of development that is critical to the school's future success.

DeSteiguer served as a senior development officer at his alma mater, Northeastern State University, before arriving at Oklahoma Christian in 2002.

During his nine years as Oklahoma Christian's chief advancement officer, a record $110 million was given to the university.

DeSteiguer earned his undergraduate degree from Northeastern State in 1984 and has a law degree from Pepperdine University.
