225 Oklahoma Soldiers Return from Afghanistan (Mar 12, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - About 225 members of the Oklahoma National Guard returned home from Afghanistan to an enthusiastic welcome from friends, family and state leaders.

The soldiers from the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team were welcomed home Monday morning at the Will Rogers Air National Guard Base hangar. Speakers at the brief ceremony included Gov. Mary Fallin, Sen. Jim Inhofe, Congressman James Lankford and other leaders.

Also attending the ceremony was the widow of Sgt. Mycal Prince, a member of the brigade who died in September when his unit was attacked by insurgents. About 2,200 soldiers from the 45th were sent to Afghanistan last June, and another 800 were deployed at the same time to Kuwait.

About 200 more soldiers are to return on Tuesday.
