Okla. Revenue Collections Continue to Surge (Mar 13, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State finance officials say Oklahoma revenues are continuing to surge amid growing consumer confidence.

Figures released Tuesday by the Office of State Finance show collections to the state's general revenue fund in February topped $283 million, an increase of nearly 15 percent over the same month last year. Finance Director Preston Doerflinger says it's the 22nd consecutive month that collections to the state's general revenue fund have exceeded those from the same month in the prior year.

Doerflinger says he's particularly pleased with sales tax collections, which totaled $145 million for the state's general revenue fund in February. That's more than 14 percent more than in February 2011.

Motor vehicle taxes exceeded prior year collections by more than 134 percent, which Doerflinger says is further evidence of consumer confidence.
