U.S. Supreme Court Rejects Hugo Appeal (Mar 19, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected the city of Hugo's appeal for the right to sell water in southeastern Oklahoma to the city of Irving, Texas.

The court released its decision without comment on Monday.

The ruling upholds a 2-1 ruling by the 10th Circuit Court of appeals to dismiss Hugo's lawsuit.

The city wanted to sell about 65 billion gallons of water to Irving - which is just northwest of Dallas.

The lower court's ruling said neither Hugo nor Irving had legal standing to sue the state of Oklahoma.
