JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - The House Agriculture Committee is holding a field hearing in Arkansas next week on the drafting of the federal farm bill.

Republican Congressman Rick Crawford announced Wednesday that the panel would hold a field hearing on the legislation at Arkansas State University. The March 30 hearing in Jonesboro is one of four field hearings the committee will hold on the legislation this year.

Crawford's office said the hearing will include Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, who's a Republican congressman from Oklahoma, and other members of the committee. Crawford says the panel plans to hear firsthand from farmers how farm policy affects them before the legislation is written.
