OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt has a front-row seat for one of the most anticipated U.S. Supreme Court cases in recent history.

Pruitt gained a spot in the court for Tuesday's arguments on whether the government's federal health care law can force people to carry health insurance or pay a penalty.

The "individual mandate" is a linchpin of the law's aim to get medical insurance to an additional 30 million people, at a reasonable cost to private insurers and state governments.

Pruitt is one of several attorneys general who maintain the mandate is unconstitutional and beyond the authority of the federal government.

Pruitt is in Washington as chairman of the Republican Attorneys General Association. He says the case is a "fundamental question about the power afforded the federal government."
