Okla. County Sheriff Says Challenger Inelligible (Apr 17, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma County Sheriff John Whetsel filed a petition Tuesday to contest the candidacy of one of his challengers.

Whetsel says Darrell Sorrels’ employment as a special Deputy for the U.S. Marshal Service in the Western District of Oklahoma violates the 1939 Hatch Act that prohibits executive branch employees from engaging in partisan political activity.

Sorrells describes himself as a Constitutional Conservative Republican. A hearing on the petition will take place Monday at the Oklahoma County Election Board office.
