OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A bill targeting the manufacture of methamphetamine by limiting the sales of an ingredient in the drug and creating an online system of monitoring the sales in Oklahoma and other states has passed the state Senate.

Pseudoephedrine is found in many common cold and allergy medications and is a key ingredient in meth. The bill limits the amount of pseudoephedrine that a person is allowed to purchase monthly to the recommended monthly dosage - about two-and-a-half boxes.

It also requires pharmacies to have an online system connected with systems in other states to track sales of the drug and prevent individuals from purchasing more than the allowed amount.

It now goes back to the House for final consideration before being sent to the governor.
