State Unemployment Drops in March (Apr 20, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Job gains in professional and business services helped Oklahoma's unemployment rate fall by 0.6 percentage points in March to 5.4 percent.

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reported Friday that total nonfarm employment rose by 2,300 from February to March. The professional and business services sector that includes scientific and technical services, administrative jobs and management added 3,200 jobs.

The greatest job loss was in construction with 2,000 fewer jobs in March than in February.

The national jobless rate in March was 8.2 percent.
