Okla. City Police ID Man Fatally Shot by Officer (Apr 23, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Authorities have identified a man who was fatally shot by a police officer after the two struggled outside a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex.

Officials said Monday medical personnel pronounced 29-year-old Bobby Truelove dead at the scene after he was shot Saturday by Sgt. Sinue Zepeda.

Police say Zepeda was responding to several calls, including one for a possible carjacking, at an apartment complex Saturday night when he received a second call regarding a possible burglary and assault. Investigators say when Zepeda arrived, bystanders directed him to a person they believed was causing a disturbance.

Officers say the person refused Zepeda's orders to comply and the two struggled. Zepeda used his Taser on Truelove, but when that wasn't effective he shot Truelove.

Zepeda was placed on routine administrative leave.
