Deadline Announced for Mortgage Compensation (Apr 27, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Attorney General Scott Pruitt's office says Oklahoma homeowners should be aware of a deadline to seek compensation through a mortgage settlement with five of the nation's largest mortgage providers.

Oklahoma homeowners who were harmed by unfair practices such as robo-signing and dual-tracking during their foreclosure process should contact the AG's Public Protection Unit. Applicants must be Oklahoma residents and complete their application prior to Sept. 13.

Oklahomans also qualify for portions of the federal settlement if they meet the criteria and their mortgages are with one of the five servicers - Bank of America, Citigroup, GMAC, JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo.

Pruitt's office says Bank of America officials are meeting with homeowners on Friday and Saturday at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tulsa to discuss eligibility for mortgage assistance.
