Judge Delays OHP Trooper Sentencing (May 09, 2012)

SAYRE, Okla. (AP) - A judge has delayed the sentencing for a former Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper convicted on two felony counts.

Ronald Arganbright was to be sentenced Wednesday, but a judge delayed that until May 30 so Arganbright's new attorneys could familiarize themselves with the case.

Last month, a judge found Arganbright guilty of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16 and use of an electronic device to facilitate sexual conduct with a minor. Prosecutors claim Arganbright had sexual contact with a then-15-year-old girl and sent her text messages encouraging her to run away with him.

The Daily Elk Citian reports (http://is.gd/MFzSPn) the judge also revoked Arganbright's bond after the Sayre Public Schools superintendent testified that the case has disrupted the school.

Arganbright was fired in 2011 after an OHP investigation.
