OU Heads to Virginia for NCAA Regional (May 28, 2012)

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma has qualified for an NCAA Regional and will travel to Charlottesville, Va., to face Appalachian State.

The Sooners (38-22) were named Monday as a No. 2 seed, and Appalachian State (39-16) is a No. 3 seed. The teams are to play at a time to be determined on Friday.

Host Virginia is the top seed and is to play 4-seed Army.

The bid marks the fifth consecutive year Oklahoma has gone to a regional and 35th overall.

Oral Roberts also qualified for a regional berth. The Golden Eagles (37-23) are to face host and top-seed Baylor, also on Friday.

Second-seeded Dallas Baptist and third-seeded UT-Arlington make up the other half of the Waco bracket.
