Oklahoma Voices: Laffer & Hepner on Eliminating the State Income Tax (Jun 11, 2012)
Gov. Mary Fallin cleared her desk Friday of the remainder of bills sent to her by lawmakers this past session. With record Republican majorities in the House and Senate, and a hold on every statewide elected office, hopes were high in many conservative circles for an elimination of Oklahoma¹s personal income tax. But the chorus of voices singing in harmony for a major overhaul of how the state raises its revenue at the start of the session in February started singing off-key as agreements on tax policy came and went, with no reduction in the income tax rate. But Fallin says she will continue her push for significant tax cuts from lawmakers for the next session.

Arthur Laffer, former economic adviser to President Ronald Reagan and Mickey Hepner, the Dean of the University of Central Oklahoma College of Business Administration, discuss recent plans to cut the Oklahoma personal income tax.

The State Chamber of Oklahoma hosted the May 9, 2012 forum, with help producing the event from the Oklahoma Policy Institute and the Oklahoma Council for Public Affairs.
