AG Pruitt Warns About Scholarship Scams (Jun 18, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is warning high school graduates and their parents to beware of groups offering to find college scholarships for a fee.

Pruitt says there are free scholarship information sources at school financial aid offices and the U.S. Department of Education website at www.studentaid.ed.gov .

Pruitt notes warnings offered by the Federal Trade Commission that include a money back guarantee and phrases such as "You can't get this information anywhere else;" "We'll do all the work," and "I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."
