Jolley Wins Challenge from Right (Jun 26, 2012)

Many Republican incumbents have overcome challenges by conservative tea party candidates to win primary elections for the Oklahoma House and Senate.

Republican Sen. Clark Jolley of Edmond won Tuesday's primary election over conservative challenger Paul Blair in District 41. Jolley will face independent Richard Prawdzienski in the November general election.

GOP Rep. Sally Kern of Oklahoma City defeated challenger Curtis Moore in District 84 seat. Because she faces no Democratic or independent opponents in the general election, she retains her seat.

Republican Rep. Gary Banz of Midwest City defeated GOP challenger A.J. Bailey in District 101 and will face Democrat Stephen E. Covert in the general election. In District 100, incumbent Republican Rep. Elise Hall of Oklahoma City beat GOP challenger Jeff Renner and was re-elected for another two-year term.
