OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A former Langston University football coach, a teacher with 62 years of education experience and a former University of Oklahoma academic adviser will be inducted into the Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame.

Officials say Willie Hurte has 45 years of education experience and served as head football coach at Langston University. Sylvester Franklin has worked in the Haskell school district for 62 years, and presently teaches math and science in the General Education Degree program.

Mendell Simmons served as a teacher and youth counselor in the Norman Public Schools, and also was a University of Oklahoma academic adviser.

Others being inducted are Chalon Anderson; Loretta Collier; Herbert King; Frederick Moon; Harold Aldridge; Albert Johnson Sr. and Gladys Foshee.

Collier, King, Moon and Simmons are being honored posthumously.
