Sen Inhofe Predicts Republican Senate Majority (Aug 20, 2012) TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe predicts his party will regain the majority in the U.S. Senate after the November elections - but even with that advantage, he believes Republicans won't have a veto proof majority. Inhofe made the remarks Monday morning during a breakfast in Tulsa sponsored by the State Chamber of Oklahoma. The 77-year-old senator, who is not up for re-election this year, touted several recent accomplishments, including funding state transportation projects and passing into law his so-called Pilot's Bill of Rights. Inhofe also took political shots at the Obama administration, accusing it of adding more than $5 trillion to the national debt. He says the president wants to raise taxes and cut defense spending to pay for it. « back |
