OK Multicounty Grand Jury Reconvenes (Aug 21, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma's multicounty grand jury is scheduled to reconvene for its final three-day investigative session.

The grand jury will meet Tuesday through Thursday at the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office in Oklahoma City. The grand jury won't meet again until a new panel is requested.

The current grand jury was authorized by the Oklahoma Supreme Court in January 2011. So far, it has returned 19 indictments in cases filed in Cleveland, Harper, McClain, Pittsburg, Oklahoma and Washington counties.

The grand jury has jurisdiction to investigate criminal matters in all 77 counties. Each month, grand jurors meet to hear testimony for two to three days. All of the proceedings are closed to the public.

The previous grand jury issued 10 indictments and assisted 145 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
