Norman Voters Approved Bond Package (Aug 29, 2012)

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Voters in Norman have easily approved a $42 million bond package that will pay for road and drainage projects throughout the city.

On Tuesday, nearly 62 percent of voters backed the bond package. Officials say Norman will use federal matching funds to pay for eight infrastructure projects in the city.

The Norman Transcript reports that the projects include stormwater drainage improvements along McGee Drive -jokingly called ``Lake McGee'' because of repeated flooding.

The bonds will also pay for the replacement of bridges, the widening of roads and the addition of sidewalks.
