Grand Jury Indicts Ex-Okla. School Superintendent (Aug 30, 2012)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Former Broken Arrow Public Schools Superintendent Jim Sisney has been indicted by a multicounty grand jury on bribery and conspiracycharges.

The allegations were unsealed Thursday in Tulsa County District Court. Further details were not available, and it was not immediately clear whether Sisney had an attorney.

Sisney was fired in 2008 by the school board amid allegations of wrongdoing.

An audit of the school system released last year covering 18 separate issues dating from July 2006 to March 2009 found possible wrongdoing involving open meetings guidelines and favoritism for vendors.

The findings prompted a criminal investigation, and Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt had asked Auditor and Inspector Gary Jones to review the district's operations.
