McAlester Inmate Found Dead (Sep 04, 2012) MCALESTER, Okla. (AP) - An Oklahoma prison official says a man sentenced to die for the shotgun slayings of three female relatives at a home in Norman in 2007 has been found dead inside his cell at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Prisons spokesman Jerry Massie says 55-year-old William Eugene Davis was discovered dead inside a cell about 6:30 a.m. Monday. Davis had a cell mate, but Massie says there were no signs of foul play. He says the state medical examiner will determine the cause of death. Davis was handed three death sentences in 2010 for the September 2007 slayings of his two sisters, 52-year-old Tami Link and 56-year old Sheila Ellis, and Link's 87-year-old mother-in-law, Letannah Bishop. Prosecutors alleged Davis was upset because of a dispute over Social Security disability payments. « back |
