Legislative Leaders Offer Advice to Higher Ed Officials (Sep 13, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (eCapitol) - Legislative leaders and a member of the governor's cabinet gave higher education officials advice yesterday about how to work with state lawmakers on higher ed issues.

eCapitol reports State Regents Chancellor Glen Johnson asked Senate President Pro Tem Brian Bingman (R-Sapulpa), incoming House Speaker T.W. Shannon (R-Lawton), and Secretary of State Glenn Coffee during a forum yesterday whether higher ed effectively communicates its role in business and the economy to the Legislature.

Coffee said that because a large number of House and Senate members are fiscal conservatives, there needs to be a focus on workforce development for jobs in Oklahoma in order for further funding requests to be considered.
