U. of Tulsa President Fired, 74 Days on the Job (Sep 13, 2012)

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The University of Tulsa has fired Geoffrey Orsak as president after 74 days on the job and one day after granting him a leave of absence.

A two sentence news release Wednesday said Orsak has been fired effective immediately and that TU executive Vice President Kevan Buck will ``manage day-to-day operations.''

No reason was given and TU spokeswoman Mona Chamberlin told The Associated Press that she could not comment.

TU had announced Tuesday that Orsak was given a leave of absence to tend to a health matter involving his father in Dallas.

Orsak was dean of engineering at Southern Methodist University when he was chosen to succeed the retiring Steadman Upham as TU president. Orsak took office July 1 as the university's 18th president.
