Seven OKC Playgrounds Closed for Safety (Oct 12, 2012)

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City Parks and Recreation Department says seven playgrounds have been temporarily closed after work crews found foreign objects in the playgrounds' safety surface material.

Officials say the action was taken Thursday afternoon as a precautionary measure. The foreign objects were found in the material that makes up the playgrounds' surface.

Officials say the foreign objects included pieces of plastic, metal, roofing materials and material used in insulation.

The playgrounds include: Douglas Park, the Lake Draper concession area and Lake Draper North Point, the Route 66 Park on the west side of Lake Overholser, Washington Park, Woodrun Park, and Youngs Park.
